The Samsung company has announced that the messenger app, ChatON would be closing its services in all regions but except the US from February 1. The company said that the reports of the shut down that broke out in November were False. Nevertheless, Samsung took a U turn and told that it would shut the messaging service.
As Samsung said a statement given to Engadget, which said, “On February 1, 2015 ChatON, will be discontinued in all markets except that of the United States, as we strive to meet evolving consumer needs by focusing on our core service. We remain committed to offering services that cater to our customers’s lifestyle and add value to their everyday lives.”
In all Samsung Galaxy smartphone, the ChatON app was pre-loaded, but the fact was that this messaging app is not popular at all. Previously the Samsung has claimed in 2013 that the ChatOn has a subscription that was over 100 million users world wide. But as of the official message that the company has said, the ChatON has no active users as the company claims to be.
An official said, “ChatON isn’t a business that can show improvement in the future.”
