Constantly shrinking tablet market has taken away Apple and Samsung market share

The new entrants to the tablet market have slowly and gradually taken away the share of Apple and Samsung as revealed by the analysts. The tablet market is continuously shrinking and with this shrinking market, the number of companies entering this tablet manufacturing segment are increasing. The sales figures that were published at the end of second quarter of 2015 confirmed one thing that the entire tablet business has witnessed 7% decline in this quarter. This reduction in tablet sales have badly hit Apple and Samsung.

The tablet sales of Apple has dropped by 17.9% as compared to its business last year. The company sold 10.9 million iPads in the three months’ time and have procured 24.5% market share.

On the other hand Samsung lost 12% business in the same quarter. The company has been successful in bagging 18% share of the market by selling 7.6 million devices in the quarter. The said decline in the tablet sales is mainly because of the new phablets coming in the market. These phablets are introduced by the companies like LG,Huawei, and Lenovo that have taken up the market share from these market leaders.

While the tablet business is going downside, there is noticeable increase in Lenovo’s business position. The company has grabbed 5.7% market share by selling 2.5 million tablets in this quarter. Huawei is following Lenovo with 3.7% market share and 1.6 million devices sold in the entire year. LG is still lagging behind with 3.6% market share.

Thus, with lowering of tablet fever and increased demand of phablets, both Apple and Samsung are experiencing sudden drop in their market share as well.
