Let’s Jolla today! The Finnish Smartphone Review

Variety is the spice of life! Humans tend to get bogged down by similar things around them, so much that they opt for something new and challenging! If you are all up for experimenting gadgets all over again, here’s a new European phone from the country of Nokia, called Jolla! The literal meaning taking us to jewel, we now have to find whether it is a piece of the said name or just another disappointment in the market of smartphones.

It is sturdy, sharp and might get mistaken for any other smartphone in the market. Although the premium plastic back cover and the separation of front of the phone from its rear might just take another minute for you to identify its originality.

The elongated rectangular shape might remind you of Nokia’s heavy rectangular designs provided the mobile phone is developed by some of its former employees. Taking a round of the placements of panels, we found a 3.5mm headset jack along with a micro-USB port at the edge of the phone with a speaker outlet at the bottom.

The battery runs at a capacity of 2100mAh that is pretty decent to use apps, play games and make quite a number of phone calls. It can withstand upto 8 to 10 hours a day after getting used.

The Jolla smartphone displays a 4.5 inch QHD display, although the expectation was of a better resolution. Under the Sun, the visibility was average and the screen have an decent display without getting fragmented, although we miss the wide angle view of the mobile phone.

jolla camera

An 8MP rear camera doesn’t upset you as the colors in the pictures taken are specific and almost accurate. Although, as the phone’s display is not great, the pictures look better when seen in a tablet or a laptop rather than the smartphone itself. At night, the camera does a fine job. The front camera of 2MP does an okay job too! The videos, although not so astounding create some amount of sharpness through it!

Well, for better understanding, I can give you an overall quick review of the software. The Sailfish OS is different than the user-friendly version of Android. But there are other heard and hyped OS like iOS and Windows and frankly speaking Jolla OS is quite distinct from all of those!

You might get stuck in the beginning but after that it will be an easy uninterrupted flow. Although, you shouldn’t expect easy phone transfers or wide variety of apps!

It is powered by 1.4GHz of Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor with 1GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage. The functioning of the smartphone was very swift, without an indication of any interruption. But if you are mobile game buff, some basic games would be difficult to run, basically it is not that friendly to Android games!

jolla half

The price range of Rs 16,499 is quite reasonable to splurge on but you have to make up your mind whether you are ready to sail your board on this Sailfish! There are other good options available too in the market at that price range!
