Nokia planning to expand 3G network in 3 existing circles and also to 5 new circles as a part of 3G contract with Airtel. The contract which is for 4 years would be used to empower Bharti Airtel’s infrastructure with the help of services and radio elements from Nokia. As a part of this contract, Nokia will take care of the network management starting from its establishment, operations, to maintenance. The planning and enhancement of the existing network along with project management and service will also carried out by Nokia. Nokia will also provide Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station.
Brief insight into the deal
1. Network planning, service, implementation, and optimization. Maintenance of hardware and software along with competence development for the contract period.
2. Provision of Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station including Flexi Lite Base Station. Also establishing small sized all-in-one base station that would work for deployment of micro-cells for bot indoor and outdoor networking. This micro-cells would ensure superior quality network even in the densely populated areas.
3. Establishing highly scalable, extremely compact, and multi-technology network with the help of multi-controller RNC, also known as mnRNC.
4. Cloud ready OSS named NetAct which is completely virtualized for optimization and thorough monitoring.
Bharti Airtel Director of Network Supports Group, Abhay Savargaonkar affirmed the deal and showed his gratitude towards this association and also mentioned that this will make the network experience much better for its users.
Sandeep Girotra, VP and Head India Markets, Nokia Networks also confirmed the deal and have shown readiness to bring in new technologies to 3G market.
The contract that is for 4 years would surely make many amendments to power the 3G market in this 8 circles of India.
