Apple is expected to launch its next iPhone with the modem chips from Intel corporation. Normally Apple does not incorporate any LTE modem in its smartphone SoCs. Ever since the launch of its smartphones, Apple company has been using the modems catered by Qualcomm. But now the confirmed official news is aired that Apple is also sourcing modems from Intel for its iPhones.
It is also being rumored that, In China the company will continue with the Qualcomm modems in its iPhones and they have been sold to Verizon network. For Carrier unlocked iPhones in US, it is still uncertain that whether, they can be used without any mobile network problem, as for Intel it is a great achievement.
In the present scenario of recession in the PC market, Apple has not earned much profits by selling its mobile phones. Recently the company has also made some variations in the design of its new upcoming iPhone model.
Rumors have also started spreading after company launched iPhone 6S some time back. Even Qualcomm has given a clue about shortfall in the modem orders and losing its one of the biggest and potential customer.
For big turnover companies, it has always been a normal behavior of sourcing different elements from different manufacturers. Apple has also take a step towards sourcing components from multiple manufacturers like Samsung, TSMC and presently Intel. But for modems, it is the first time that Apple sourced it from another manufacturer.
